The Senate Democrats are not backing down, defying the President and the Vice President, and surpassing my greatest expectations.
The Blogger Code of Ethics is probably a wash (and rightly so, as it would have been ineffective), but we still could use some ideas for countering sexualized online attacks against women. Though more than one strategy would help, I thought I would call the community’s attention to a tactic employed by one of our online forefathers: Mike Godwin. Yup, he’s that Godwin–the mastermind behind Godwin’s Law.
General Calwell accuses Iran of arming Sunnis in Iraq. Iran is mainly Shia; why would Shia Iran be arming the Sunnis?
Also, look at this vague claim:
“The weapons… were discovered in a car in a Sunni district of Baghdad last week, the Americans said.”
The whole thing is nonsense. Even the evidence they provide, as usual, is thin at best.

I just watched an episode of House which turned out to be obvious propaganda for banning abortion. I have never watched the show and was immediately drawn into the story. You have to give Fox one thing: they weave their right-wing propaganda into the taught threads of an entertaining plot.
The premise was that a woman’s pregnancy threatened her life, leaving her to decide whether to abort the pregnancy. You can already see where this is going. House–a rude doctor whose massive mental database of rare diseases stands where compassionate warmth might otherwise reside–wanted to perform a late term abortion. The patient agrees and asks her doctor to perform the procedure.
Her doctor–a woman (nice choice) whose irrationally hopeful instinct stubbornly condemned House’s advice– was determined to find an against-all-odds solution to save the fetus. No question exists, at this point, as to whether the idealist doctor will succeed. Of course she will.
Things just keep getting better.

Isn’t it nice to have a fake invasion sometimes? It’s like the old hippie/Lennon adage: “What if they had a war and nobody came?” Now, we know the answer.
In yet more proof that the Bush administration and other neocons are trying to scare the nation into accepting invasion of god-knows-how-many nations throughout the world, a Cuban defector claims that Cuba has biowarfare capability. Why is he saying this now?
